We regret to confirm the devastating dormitory fire at Hillside Private Mixed Primary School in Endarasha, Kieni Sub County, that occurred last night. The fire has claimed the lives of 15 students, with 14 others receiving urgent medical care at Mathari Mission Hospital and Nyeri County Referral Hospital.
Emergency interventions underway so far:
- Food & Essentials: 50 bags of rice, 50 bags of beans, 100 mattresses, and blankets are enroute.
- Medical Support: 50 First Aid Kits delivered, medical supplies from MP Shah Hospital, and health assessments are ongoing.
- Counselling: Red Cross and external counsellors are on-site offering critical support to victims and families.
The National Steering Committee on Disaster Response (NSCDR) together with its partners are coordinating additional support towards the school and affected families.
